As some of you may know, this site evolved out of a fanzine I used to publish called Spontaneous Combustion. It was a printed zine that ran from 1985 – 1997. Spontaneous Combustion is also a record label that I started in the early 1990’s and will still continue when funds and the right project present themselves again. When the fanzine died, I revamped the website a few years later and added new reviews and some new interviews with some legendary punk bands and record labels before I ultimately phased out that site and it evolved into this site. I left the old Spontaneous Combustion site up there for years until a few weeks ago I sold the domain it was on (spontaneous.com) after owning it for 20 years.
This week I took the old zine history and label discography and retooled them and added them to this site. It reads a hell of a lot better than it used to and it even more informative than ever. It makes for a nice trip down memory lane for those of you who may have been familiar with the old zine and you record collector types like me will find all the information you need on the Spontaneous Combustion Records releases. As for those old interviews, while they are about ten years old now on average, they do contain a lot of great information and history on those bands and record labels so sometime I will figure out a good way to integrate them on this site. Maybe once I do I can find some additional contributors to this site who would like to do current interviews with bands and professional wrestlers. If you happen to be one of those people please get in touch.
Check out the history of Spontaneous Combustion right here. It is also accessible by clicking the link up in the menu bar at the top of this site. I’m pretty proud of a lot of that stuff and I hope you enjoy it.
