Not that this really comes as a big surprise but the autopsy report released yesterday on the death of musician Jay Reatard revealed that his untimely passing was due to “cocaine toxicity, and that alcohol was a contributing factor,” according to Shelby County Medical Examiner Dr. Karen E. Chancellor.
Another talented musician gone from a needless death. It always pisses me off when someone dies far before their time due to something that could easily be avoided.
In his wake Goner Records and In the Red records plan to reissue much of his back catalog from the bands he was in before going solo.
