Last saturday I held the first annual Quadruple birthday bash at Combustion Manor. First it was just to be a dual bday bash for myself, and Assklown #1 (aka: Cheddar Nines), however this turned into a triple bday bash when we learned J. Bear’s bday was the day inbetween mine and #1’s! Later still, the day I picked to have the party on turned out to be little Devin’s bday (who actually didn’t end up making it to the party). A record number of people showed up to the party, I mean there was a TON of people here to celebrate, and a record number of beer was consumed. The empty bottles took up 2 full garbage cans. Not a kitchen can, I am talking the kind you take to the curb for the trash man to pick up! Below is some pix Pod took with the Panasonic Ewear, and clicking on MORE will take you to the rest. It was easily the best party I have ever had, and I plan to make this an annual event. I had a great time, it was the most fun I’ve had in a couple months!

So last week tuesday I went (alone - thanks again everyone) to see These Arms Are Snakes play sandwiched between Minus the Bear and Velvet Teen. After a very satisfying meal at Potbellys as I was switching L trains to get there, I staked my claim just to the left of the stage in front so I could take some pictures. I tried a variety of different settings on my camera with mixed results, but I’m narrowing it down more and more to an optimum setting to get decent pictures in a dark show I think.

Velvet Teen played first, and I impatiently sat thru them. It wasn’t that they were bad, they were OK, but a bit too soft for my liking and all I cared about that evening was seeing the one band I was there for. These Arms Are Snakes played second, and they kicked so much ass. They have a ton of energy when they play, and you can tell they are into it. The crowd seemed to be digging them as well. They played some new songs which were damn good, and left me craving a new record already! They ended their set with my favorite song of theirs, and also my favorite song of the year, “Drinking From the Necks of the Ones You Love”. What a way to go out! Minus the Bear played last, and they were a bit too wimpy for me, so I left mid set thorougly satisfied having seen one of my current favorite bands.

I did not die, nor did I go on vacation or even quit blogging. This domain was being moved to a new server and I was unable to blog until it was done. I would like to publicly thank Thor for doing it, and for hosting 2 of my domains.

Now there is a sea of pix to follow in the next entries. I have some from the These Arms Are Snakes show, some from Mr. Potato Head (he is not dead!), and a ton from the giant bday bash at Combustion Manor. Stay tuned!

I went to see the above bands last nite at The Bottom Lounge. It was a good show, despite the fact I had to go to it by myself and no one talked to me. I noticed that these emo kids all seem to wear bike messenger bags, which bang into you when they try and walk by you. I am going to go out on a limb and say these kids are not all bike messengers by trade. All three bands were good, and I liked The Black Eyes the best (and I really enjoyed their album on Dischord). Q and Not U finished their set with everyone from the other bands joining them on stage for a couple numbers in cluding a cover of the Screamers’ “Vertigo” which I would throw down a sizeable bet that I was the only one in the audience that knew that bit of information. I snapped some pictures at the show and below are the results. I’m starting to get some better pictures with this camera now, a trend I hope spills over big time tonite when I go see These Arms Are Snakes!
